Wednesday was a day for heavy lifting at the expansion project at Greene County Medical Center.
A heavy duty crane was brought in to lift eight pieces of Trane air handling equipment, weighing a combined total of 35 tons, up to the roof.
The equipment will serve the 51,000 square-foot addition to the medical center. It also has the capacity to serve as a back-up for the 20-year-old chillers in the existing facility, according to director of facilities Steve Hagen.
Completion of the new construction is expected in mid-summer. The next phase of the project is a renovation of the current facility. The project is intended to optimize access, efficiency and privacy to assure the long term sustainability of the medical center.
